2 These are the sons of Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, ² Dan, Joseph, Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.

The Descendants of Judah

³ The sons of Judah were Er, Onan, and Shelah. Those three were born to him by Shua’s daughter,^[a] a Canaanite woman. Er, who was Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the Lord, so he killed him.
